The most exotic thing that can be found on Mount Rinjani is Segare Anak (Segare meaning lake, and Anak means children) which naturally formed by the eruption of Mount Rinjani. People around it also often call it Segara Laut because the color of the lake’s water is blue just like the water at the sea. This lake is situated at an altitude of 2,800 m. You can find many different types of fish there, such as carp, tilapia and harper. Segare Anak is also believed by the surrounding community as a lake that have a magical water that can cure several disease.

According to people at surrounding, Segara Anak lake was once also used as a place of worship to get some sacred objects. Near the Segare Anak there are standing a small mountain called Gunung Barujari (New Mountain). Few people who can get to the top of that mountain, as this it is still active and often spouting out gas. Most climbers start their climbing from Sembalun start entry. Because this will save about 700 m altitude. Sembalun route is rather long but flat.
